Gov Contract Hunter — Privacy Policy

Overview
- Gov Contract Hunter does not create user accounts and does not ask you to sign in.
- The app does not use App Tracking Transparency and does not request permission to track.
- The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes.
- We do not sell personal information.
Data sent when you use the app
- Search terms and filters you enter are sent to our server, which forwards them to the public SAM.gov Opportunities API and returns the results. Our server holds the SAM.gov key so it never ships inside the app.
- A device identifier (Apple’s identifierForVendor) is sent to our own server to confirm your subscription applies to this device and to prevent abuse of the service. This identifier is scoped to us by Apple, is not your name or email, is not combined with any advertising identifier, and is not shared with third parties.
- App version and device attestation data are sent to our server to verify requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app.
- We do not send your watchlist, notes, tasks, or documents anywhere. Those stay on your device.
Data stored on your device only
- Watchlist items and pipeline status
- Alert rules and read state
- Workspace notes, tasks, and document links
- Preferences such as theme and onboarding state
Deleting the app removes this data. We have no copy of it.
Subscriptions and purchases
- Subscriptions and any optional tip purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.
- Our server records that a subscription is active, when it expires, and which device it applies to, so access can be granted and refunds or cancellations honoured.
- Apple notifies our server of renewals, cancellations, refunds, and expirations for the same purpose.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data
only to provide their service to us, and none of them receive your saved work —
that never leaves your device.
- Vercel (USA) — hosts our server, which relays your search
requests. Processes request data including your device identifier and IP
address.
- Upstash (USA) — stores subscription status and anonymous
usage counters for our server. Holds the device identifier associated with
an active subscription.
- Apple — processes all payments and subscription
management, and provides device attestation. We never see your payment
details.
- SAM.gov (U.S. General Services Administration) — the
public source of opportunity data. Receives the search terms you enter,
relayed by our server. It does not receive your device identifier.
- Google — the Google Mobile Ads and User Messaging Platform
libraries are present in the app for historical reasons but are
disabled in this version. They are not initialised, make
no network requests, and collect nothing. If advertising ever returns,
this policy will be updated before it does.
Advertising
- The current version of the app does not display advertising.
- Where ads have previously appeared, they were non-personalized only, and the app has never requested tracking permission.
Analytics
- We count aggregate events on our own server — how many searches happen,
how many people reach the paywall, how many subscriptions start or end.
- There is no analytics SDK in the app, and no per-user
event history. We store daily totals and an estimate of how many distinct
devices were active, using a method that cannot be reversed to identify
which devices those were.
- None of this is shared with any third party.
Data retention
- Subscription and device records are kept while a subscription is active and for a limited period afterwards, so renewals and refunds resolve correctly.
- Search terms are forwarded to SAM.gov to fulfil the request and are not retained as a per-user history by us.
Children
- The app is a business tool and is not directed at children.
Your choices
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
- To ask what we hold about a device, or to request deletion, email us with the request.
